What if I desire to Convert to Judaism?
Those interested in conversion to Judaism may, under the sponsorship of a Conservative Rabbi, attend the Institute as a means of meeting part of the formal requirements of conversion to Judaism. No one who takes the classes is obligated to convert to Judaism. Other steps in the formal process include meeting with a Bet Din (a religious court), ritual immersion in a bath called a Mikveh and, for males, a circumcision or drawing of a drop of blood if a circumcision has already been performed. Conversion candidates are also called upon to state their exclusive adherence to Judaism, their positive attitudes toward the observance of mitzvot, the commandments of Jewish life and the commitment to raise and educate children in the Jewish faith. It is important to discuss specific requirements with a sponsoring Rabbi.
